Since I had Knit Group tonight, I planned to take pictures on my walk yesterday after work. I left the house at 5:15 and took this:

Monday Sunset

By the time I got to the end of the lake path a few minutes later, it was too dark for more pictures, so that's it for this week.

I did manage to get a very blurry picture of the bird I'm calling an egret last Friday on the front lake; this one is dark gray, but otherwise identical to the white one. I stalked it from one side of the lake to the other a few times before it got fed up and flew off to the Beach Lake. Now that the water is back down (until the next all-day or torrential rain), I'll be surprised if it comes this close to 'Town again.

Our Halloween was overrun with Trick or Treaters, like usual. We had six bags of candy, and still didn't make it to 8:00 Saturday night. One of the downsides of living in 'Town, like any of the nicer developments, is that people "bus" their kids in here from all over the area. "Tourist" cars were parked bumper to bumper on both sides of the street. The seniors across the street had their usual Halloween extravaganza, with kids lined up just to get in the door.  Since our porch is up five steps, we put on jackets and sat on the steps to hand out candy, so the little ones wouldn't have to navigate more than the two steps off the sidewalk. We had our glasses of mead with us, and made a lot of parents jealous.

Around 7:30, we were a little concerned when an ambulance made its way carefully down our packed street. The lights weren't on, but we were both worried about what could have happened with this many kids running around this many drivers unfamiliar with the 'Town. But when it stopped across the street, the paramedics got out and asked the stupidest question of the night: "Anybody want some candy?" Uh, ya think? They were still handing out candy when we ran out about twenty minutes later. That was it for us; we made it to 11:00 before we blew out the memorial candles and went to bed.
